     I ching original principles on the Acient Ritual Bronze Drum of Viet
       translation from Vietnamese text: trong dong va que huong dich ly --author Nguyen Quang Nhat

1-      Original text image-- Symbolic image letterpress (chữ nguyên hình)

 On the surface of all first class types of  ancient bronze drum, on the drum-head the image was casted with  sun is center: a central sun, and then with other three concentric circles:  images of Crane – Image of small birds and deer, then image of the people everyday life activities of people: living, working, entertaining, and fighting with significant activities: play the drum music, measure the shadowy line, the spectacle combatant or boat sailing, processing rice, all other displacement etc... The number in each circle is I Ching Number (in another article we can go further to analyze the meaning of numbers on the drum-head.  
The sun was the symbol that ancient Vietnamese considered the universe’s center, source of light, the source that provides life to myriad things under heaven. Assimilate Heaven as father, land as mother, our ancestor have preventive understand what harvest is well through, can not be obtained if no sun, this is very worldly truth, but also very scientific. It was then in the antiquity, the chlorophyll photosynthesis was unknown. But with observation and comparing the harvest result good or bad, related closely to the light of the sun, people in antiquity understand a combination of land and heaven to provide food is the key factor, and this help to feed human living.
From that notion Heaven Earth coexistence was formed. In one side, the tangible factor can catch: the land, one knows, exist, on the other side, something exist but can not grasp. Is that from the heaven, it intangible. And the sum rule into heaven- land are two sides, different, contrast, complementary one another: called yin and yang. It is the idea originated Dich ly—I ching

With imagination sun is the source, our ancestor considered the sun is the source of genetic civilization, the intelligence, because if there is no sunlight, dark coated, can not distinguish between high or low, beauty and ugly…

 Space becomes more than a chaotic turbulence, and with night all dangers from barbarian life would harm, the destiny of mankind would be so thin, venerable Alls only come alive when actually sun inadvertent.

Humans worship sun. With the Vietnamese, reverence has almost an official religion: Viet culture worship Troi--Heaven, his poetry and a photo icon is a sun. With the location is in the center of the sacred bronze drum. Sun means the center of the universe. Sure this new idea at super metaphysics, but which we have seen is the image of scientist mind.

On earth we do not know how many types of animals exist, why birds and deer again be important to match man associated with him to create, three represented parts of the world, on the drum coat, as a thumbnail of the cosmos?

 We go back to Dich Ly (I Ching). Anyone unanimously considered Lac and Ha and is part of the Dich Ly, or by express Dich Ly through the buttons of a cord/ a different kind of expression/farthermost ancient Viet language (the knot number on the cord)..And not the language of the dich ly stroke, to 8 triagrams v...v..

So what is HA? And what is LAC? Underwent clouds of millennium, the  "remote vision broad view" people remains continue to discuss, whether “ha do” is the code on the back of the sacred sea horse called long-ma, given by the God to rule the human life, or is it the saintly object appear in imaginative places: at the Yellow, Ha Manh or Lac thuy rivers.. The reason of prolong discussion because people do not see directly: right in front of them but see via “spy-glass ". In fact when stuff is viewed by naked eye, fact becomes simple: Ha is Heaven; Lac is transmitted sound of the sound Luc which means green, Earth. Ha Lac is Heaven and Earth. Instead calling Ha Do and Lac thu, the right name is Ha Thu and Lac Do, Ha should go with Thu (letter)—heaven words, and Lac should go with Do which is the Earth goes with Maps (Do)

Ha thu and Lac Do instead of Ha Do and Lacthu, as called now in the I Ching

 Implication between bronze drum and principles of the book of changes is very clear: A circular on visibility drum-head: sun is center and lives in concentric circles in series are the Crane. Deer to show the cosmology of our ancestor: there are three governing forces need to take to account together:

The triad Heaven Earth Man on the Drum is: sun, the origins of life. Then in the middle circle: people and outside, the earth/ inferior further are the crane with name Hac=Ha= represent the heaven. All three elements: Heaven Earth and Man are running around the sun/source of life.

 Let look closer:

  Heavens= The letter: HaàHac: means the Crane,the flamingo. Earth (Luc= Green: LUC/LucàLoc: Growth (luc and loc has similar pronunciation)---Loc also means  bud: rusa of baby deer. From correlation between the Ha/ Lac Heaven Earth, and their displacement of the triad on the bronze drum-head/ 3000 years old... at least we can affirm:' bronze drum is the intentional expression of the IChing/ Principle of Change.  The contents designed on the much endured material: the bronze is the principle of Change and the principle of Change can be matched only with the geography of currently Vietnam. These consequence lead to the affirmation: Law of Change was found by Viet ancestor, and in the land of current Vietnam. It belongs to Viet people

Heaven, in old language named Ha. To die is to bang ha`means to return to the ancestor in heaven. The universe is called Thien Ha..

Ha is represented by the Crane which name Hac with the reason Ha and Hac has similar sound. 





Earth = green named Luc. From Luc we have→ Loc (quite similar pronunciation), Luc—Loc—Deer

From the relation between the Heaven and Earth, two main components represent the two sides—tangible earth phenomenal, and intangible heaven/ principal foundation of Ditch ly/ Inching. On the bronze drum two of three principal circles are deer and Crane moving around the core—sun. Adding with the third one Human. We can clearly see  The Heaven ---Crane==Ha, the Earth,  Luc—Loc—Deer are three backbone of the Bronze Drum. To come to the conclusion: 

 Ha-Thu-- heaven Book, or philosophical Book of the East, and we now claim: 'The bronze drum is the ancient book of I Ching.

Further, we see:

And like that the “four saints” who invent the Dich ly /I Ching:  Phuc Hy Van Vuong Chu Cong and Khong Tu are impossible to inhabit in north Hoàng Hà. Because Bronze Drum -- I Ching oldest exhibit is never found in the North of Hoang Ha river. It is the second conclusion. The Drum—Iching Drum, is not the product of current central part of China. It belongs to 100 Viet Nation/ Hungs dynasty, the dynasty of the South.

This fact elicited following opinions “hieroglyphic letter" is not the most ancient letterpress, and it is a continuity of another preceding kind that called letterpress “image-prototype". We associate it in I ching in the Capital Translated section (thuyet quai)  Khong Tu writes: " In old days Bao Hy (the most ancient ancerstor) looked up the statuary see heaven, and incline to the ground to be: “quan dieu thu chi van”, this sentence understands as: to observe the membrum/texture of  birds and beasts & then read the text and understand the Li: cosmic laws…The summarization become principles of the I Ching book Principles of change include the Ha Lac models, written on the turtle’s back. This birds and beasts membrum is the older letterpress in comparison with the hieroglyphic letter.

Now we can understand it have a text made by: " raw images/prototype: from birds and beasts” letter before the King Phuc Hy’s creation” hieroglyphic letter”

What the King Phuc Hy see through the text of primordial prototype? It should be the main themes that is backbone construct the macro as well as the microcosmic organism: which synthesize both time and space and unknown intangible consciousness vision/ in another word:  parameters the construct of each entity including materiality and the abstract synthesis: It should including the main parameters. We can see it in the Ha Thu displacement.

 

Indeed we see 6 major: Beyond/ below (spiritual encounter), spatial plan of geographical materiality we have, hot/cold/ light/ heavy, water/fire. And time: the movement: static and dynamic...

 

First in the plane of materiality, the cultural Asian background see the significant represents of the natural: 4 very important Words—Paradigm: The Heaven ---Crane==Ha, the Earth, Luc—Loc—Deer and two realm: water surface and mainland which are two favorable conditions for the Tiger, and the Crocodile (equator hot and cold climate)

And the following source of two more letters; the Tiger (Ho) and the Crocodile (Sau)

1. Equatorial Course: it be figurative tropic by the Tiger

In Ha Thu---Heaven book we have 4 main directions:

1. Equator direction: the tropics are represented by the tiger, is pronounces of Hoả it be fire  consider fire is hot - the heat of the equator.

2. As opposed to fire it is areas where this country is much more crocodile country, so many Sấu – the crocodile, to be ablaut of Xíu is (Cantonese) means water. In Viet Nam history legend fable, it is serpent/crocodile like monster, a sea monster the kind injure or kill others—animals and people.

Later on owing to climatic occurrence sấu- northern situated (to continue provisionally to call like present-day name) Sau is exterminated, the ancients to replacement by “Qui”--turtle.

3. Eastward is sea coast, is the icon with the supernatural creature, the dragon, themselves suck water and made rain.
The ancients called the Wivern. Rong in culture is considered sea world ruler lord.

4. Who go through learning principles of the book of changes know: east direction represent the Sunder gua in 8 trigram Ha Lac: Dragon—dynamic direction

According to the principle of I Ching== oppositions across the axis are two total different realms. The West is opposite direction compare to the East must have opposite quality: therefore be static, hard, because the East is soft and dynamic

The West-- hard and static, firm, unchanged decision /is the meaning for the Doai (West) gua of I Ching.

Static, in Viet language is Tinh. The modified sound is Tuong. In the tropical climate of mountainous Central Vietnam now: Westward, indeed we know it is Elephant land for thousands of year. The name of this land is Van Tuong; means “land of ten of thousand elephant” The name of elephant is similar to the word Tinh (Static). So Vietnamese have dual word “disposed” to point west: changeless lateral, and decision making, static, and land of elephants.

In total we obtained 7 " literal ":

Sun is center. The Crane= Heavens. - Growth bud deer= Land. - The Tiger= Hot equatorial direction. - Sấu, Qui= water direction, as opposed to hot direction. - Dragon The Wivern= East. - Elephant = West

Determination ditto, that we can affirm present-day China central land cannot be the native land of I Ching --principles of changes. Native land along present day China is unsearchable things and represented -- 4 main represent beasts that live in each direction for ever.  Only the land can focus all that I Ching/ Ha Thu elements, satisfy all above appointed entities—Vietnam== current territory. They are 6 main animals and word which have the name “image/hieroglyphic letter" or “raw images from birds and beasts texture".

One more prove:

Up to nowadays, in the altar of each Vietnamese Temple there is a Crane or flamingo –symbolized Heaven standing on tortoise shell symbolized Earth.

Dich Ly is a translation has assets of all mankind, evolved from the beginning is not important for the world commonality, but for Vietnamese it is different, it is challenging. If not to clear about the homeland of Dich Ly/handed down heritage, the transformation for Vietnamese mind will be in dilemmas (get stuck—in spiritual plane. The most ancient work from the ancestral heart give know how and together with this knowledge the for ever values, to be continued to admit the whole asset—without the sensitivity that given by blood, the book of changes will be wrongly interpreted case by cases, and cause dramatic result for the whole earth. It requires now the awareness in full/ in order to recover the native place of I Ching under Heaven /a time for transmitting this invaluable asset can save our contemporary issues.

 Only by their children, Dich ly can deposit the value of honor regarding the property as is for Viet’s children to be!

The past does not stop. The sacred energy come through the yieldingness of the spiritual line from the past in depth examination—continuous flow to create spiritual power to everyone, then Dich becomes passing-down sacred code values of life and the interiority…, this is why our effort is to expect to find the origins of Book of Principle of Change; determined to be copyrighted in the Dich Ly, a super product of the wisdom of Viet.
