Description of the Ngoc Lu Bronze drum – head
The shape of bronze drum abounded with diverse form and age. Therefore it also has various layers of information. This article writes about the drum Ngoc Lu, dated about 3000—4000 years ago, found in the Middle part of Vietnam.
Drum head embodies 1 center and 3 concentric circles.
A/ -The first circle and the center express the Viet’s Philosophy of Life
For the sun emit the light, also the life energy, in the Vietnamese the word light, and life (sang and song) are quasi homophone words, the soul as a spirit of human is a part of the set of that grandiose flashing block of the sun coming to the material earth: to immerse within human body to let him becoming an animated being, who obtain a deity spirit. The center of the drum is a sun lightening. The first circle is a life scene. The center is always the sun in all types of bronze drum. This has shown a key principle through out Viet’s ideology: Sun is center of the universe, its image representing the Ong Troi (metaphysical heaven). Heaven is Supreme Being whose capacity dominates alls. But also who is as closely intimate as parents to the Viet’s People, so they often call: High good Heaven and High parent! For sun emits the light also gives birth (lived power) to life.
‘lôi xuất địa phấn tiên vương dĩ tác nhạc sùng đức ân tiến chi thượng đế dĩ phối tổ khảo’ is this reason. In Viet’s philosophy of life, past, present and future are three facets of a non stop cycle of birth and death: transformation cyclically. Information to created this myth is proceed from I Ching Ha Thu—the Iching horoscope of preliminary heaven—principle of nature (world view).
In the scheme of Ha Thu, number 6 or 6 white- nodes lies in the South, and number 8 or 8 white nodes is in the East. The second facet of the South is the number 1. According to I Ching horoscope the schemata of Hau Thien Bat Quai, the South, number 6 is also the direction of Water—the name for water is Kham gua (quai).
In ancient Viet’s language, water is nác-lác → Lạc. This is word Lac in Lac Long Quan (King Lac Long Quan is the son of Kinh Duong Vuong and Long Nu) and in Lac Viet ( name of the Viet country) .
In Iching Horoscope Tien thiên bái quái, in eastern direction, is number 8 the 8 is gua (triagram)Chan or Thin means dragon (Chinese language be Long).
Up to this point, is already clear that the sentence: Fairy and Dragon’s descendent, or the Lac Long lineage is the integration of two streams of Hung People: the Southern people represents by 6 and the Eastern people represents by 8, according to Ha Thu at the time of Hung Viet king—Tuan Lang king.
In the drum head of Ngoc Lu’s historical drum (3—4 thousand years old) shows the information at the second circle: two groups: in half of the circle there are 6 birds, and 10 deers (6/10), and, on the other half, there are 8 birds and 10 deers. 8/10
Here, the precedents of Viet use set of 10 unit (con): 10- number- button system. It is the oldest language text: 10 con (see the article related to I Ching part). Number 10 neither expresses itself but it counts for 2 time 5—where 5, an odd number.

10 deers and 6 birds show the Hung lineage from the south, which represents the descendent of Kinh Duong Vuong, the first king of Ancient Viet.

The meaning shows on the second concentric circle on the Bronze Drum is very important: It says: the owner of the drum-head is the lineage: Rong Tien or Lạc – Long , Tiên – Long , identified by the couple: 6/10, and 8/10.
If there isn’t number 10, and the only taken are numbers 6 and 8, it could be understood as the foreign nations, people who live at the southern and eastern part of the country.

We understand now, why the non- conventional China (Viet) --King of Eastern Han ordered to “horse face” (Ma Dien or Mavien) to destroy and take and burn all Viet’s bronze drums.
